Nurturing Boys for a Better Tomorrow
There is an urgent need that lies at the heart of our society – nurturing the boy child at home, at school, and in society to raise a generation of good men. In response to this call, Primestars and YouthStart Foundation, in collaboration with various public, private, and GBVF sector stakeholders, launched an innovative national preventative GBVF programme titled "What About the Boys?".
This groundbreaking initiative has already made a profound impact, reaching over 15,000 boys last year. Through a multi-faceted model including edutainment, practical work booklets, digital support and engaging MENtorship workshops, the programme empowers boys to express their emotions in healthy ways, foster connections with others, stand up against bullying and inequality and break free from rigid stereotypes.

A Word From Nkosinathi
Nkosinathi Moshoana, Primestars COO, believes that we can ensure that the next generation of boys and men is nourished differently. He said, “We are a fatherless nation but through resolute programmes such as What About The Boys? We are able to get these boys mentors that will inspire them to be better men in the future. The celebration of this day is significant to the nationwide project that Primestars initiated last year and that we will continue to grow annually.”
Join Us In Raising A Nation Of Good Men
Addressing delegates at the second Presidential Summit on Gender-based Violence and Femicide, President Cyril Ramaphosa said, “We need to reach out to boys and young men, to develop masculinities that value respect, understanding and accountability. A good example of this is the project by Primestars, which, in collaboration with the government, focuses on redefining masculinity among young men. This programme needs to be rolled out to all the schools in the country”. Together, we can make a lasting impact by supporting initiatives that empower boys, foster healthy masculinity, and break free from harmful stereotypes. We call on all corporates and organisations invested in this vital cause to join the What About The Boys initiative and help us Raise a Nation of Good Men.
